Applicants must possess 12th / 10+2 / XII Class certificate are equivalent examination from a recognized Board/ University as on 01.08.2017 i.e., candidate must have mark sheets, provisional certificates etc. of completion of intermediate/ Higher Secondary/ 10+2 / Senior Secondary in original as proof of having acquired qualification on or before 01.08.2017, this is mandatory failing which his/ her candidature will be cancelled.

How To apply SSC Stenographer Recruitment

Candidates need to apply online through the Website . No other mode of application will be accepted. Candidate should read the instructions carefully given in the Recruitment Notification before filling up the application form.

The online application will be available from 17.06.2017 to 15.07.2017 (up to 5:00 pm). Candidates have to register once on the SSC portal once only and can apply for any examination conducted by SSC. This one time registration is the permanent data base of the candidate. Candidate will get registration ID and Password by the system which should be noted and kept safely so that it can be used for applying to any examination conducted by SSC. This registration facility is available through out the whole year at




Mode of Online fee payment  for SSC Stenographer Recruitment

After filling up online application, candidates need to pay fee through SBI Net Banking/ Credit/ Debit Card of any Bank, this facility of fee payment is available from 17.06.2017 to 15.07.2017 (up to 5:00 pm)

Fee payment by SBI Challan

Candidates can also make the payment through SBI Challan at the mentioned branches of SBI within the working hours of Bank up to 18.07.2017. It is mandatory that the challan has to  be generated before 5:00 pm on 15.07.2017. Candidate should take the print of the challan generated online after completion of Application Part and deposit of requisite fee in the designated branch of SBI.

In the registration process applicants will provide basic personal information and will upload their photograph and signature of prescribed file size [ photograph size from 4 kb to 12 kb, signature size in JPG format digital size from 1 kb to 12 kb. If applicant find at any stage registration that there occurred some discrepancy in , one time registration data, this can be suitably edited before filling online application form. It is important to note her that commission allows editing of information like name, father’s name, Mother’s name, date of birth, roll no. etc. only once after registration, so it is very much important to enter/ edit these fields very very carefully. Remaining fields in the one time registration can be edited once before every exam but prior for submission of application for examination.

Any change in particulars of application form once submitted cannot be change/ corrected afterwards

Question paper will be of Objective Multiple choice type. Questions will be set in Hindi and English except Part – 3.

There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. Candidates are, therefore, advised to keep this in mind while answering the question.

SSC Stenographer recruitment Group C & D exam syllabus 2017

General Intelligence & Reasoning: It would include questions of both verbal and non-verbal type. the test will include questions on analogies, similarities, and differences, space visualization, problem solving, analysis, judgement, decision making, visual memory, discriminating observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning, verbal and figure classification, arithmetical number series, non-verbal series etc. The test will also include questions designed to test the candidate’s abilities to deal with abstract ideas and symbols and their relationship, arithmetical computation and other analytical functions.

General Awareness: Questions will be designed to test the ability of the candidate’s general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions will also be designed to test the knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspects as may be expected of an education person. The test will also include questions relatinig to India and its Neighboring countries especially pertaining to Sports, History, Culture, Geography, Economic scene, General Polity including Indian Constitution, and Scientific Research etc. These questions will be such that they do not require a special study of any discipline.

For VH Candidates of 40% and above visual disability/ afflicted by cerebral palsy and locomotor disability candidates and opting for scribe there will be no component f Maps/ Graphs/ Diagrams/ Statistical Data in the General Intelligence & Reasoning / General Awareness Paper.

English Language & Comprehension: In addition to the testing of candidates’ understanding of the English language, its vocabulary, grammer, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms and its correct usage, etc, his/her writing ability, would also be tested.

Skill Test criteria  in Stenography  for SSC Recruitment 2017

Candidates who obtain the qualifying marks in the Examination as may be prescribed by the Commission will only be called for the Skill Test. Commission may also prescribe qualifying marks in each part of Examination. The skill test will be of qualifying nature and the Commission will fix the qualifying standards in the skill test for different categories of candidates.

The candidates will have to appear for the stenographer test. The candidates will be given one dictation for 10 minutes in English/ Hindi at the speed of 100 w.p.m for the post of Stenographer Grade ‘C’ and 80 w.p.m  for the post of Stenographer Grade ‘D’. The matter will have to be transcribed on computer. The transcription time is as follows:-

For Stenographer Grade ‘D’: 50 minutes (English)

65 minutes (Hindi)

For Stenographer Grade ‘C’: 40 Minutes (English)

55 minutes (Hindi)

Visually Handicapped, Orthopedically Handicapped (OH) candidates & afflicted by Cerebral Palsy and the candidates who have a locomotor disability (40% or more) wherein the dominant writing extremity is affected to the extent of slowing the performance of the candidates are required to transcribed the matter in 75 minutes for English Shorthand or in 100 minutes for Hindi Shorthand for the post of Stenographer Grade – ‘D’ and in 70 minutes and in 95 minutes for Hindi Shorthand test for the post of Stenographer Grade – ‘C’.
